Publisher's Note
From knee deep in the calmly rolling Atlantic Ocean, the tall dunes of Longnook Beach in Truro tower over the deep beach and shore.

Like most of the people I’ve met whose lives have led them out to Cape Cod, after my first visit I couldn’t help but believe there was some kind of 2001-style Monolith or a magnetic pyramid buried deep beneath the tall dunes in Truro or under the rolling hills on the north side of Rt 6 just east of the Dune Shack Trail. I also noticed that this feeling of certainty grew stronger in everyone the farther toward the end of the land they found themselves.

Once all of us, as HyperLocal Cape Cod, decided to endeavor upon this website, our obsession-riddled love and fascination with the Outer and Lower Cape made our affectionate focus on it as the initial subject feel predetermined. Or maybe predestined. And everything and everyone who was to become involved came together as such.

How that would be actualized on the finite and binary grounds of the web would need hardened hands. What do we want to do? We want to simultaneously create a resource by and for locals that we are comfortable sharing with visitors so we can keep our favorite bars, restaurants, inns, clubs … always thriving. We know how important the shoulder season is to our business owners who brave the unforgiving seas of December, January, and February.

We also know how gorgeous our beloved Outer and Lower Cape are during those months - but there’s only so much sand year-rounders can carry. If we can transmit that loveliness to the remote small crowd who are also receiving signal from the buried magnet in our sands then we can bring those dedicated out to help carry the load. And reap the riches.

Reaping those riches is where we see our ultimate contribution coming to fruition. A curated resource. An insider. Your stage-side table at the Copa on no notice. Your complimentary bottle. Your walk-in, walk-out baguette from PB in July for good graces in March.

We have so many aspirations for our fledgling site, alluded to in the ethereal here, but it would be unfair to its wonderful and wide open future to sidle it with even the widest blinders. Know that we’ll use this kernel of inspiration to grow Cape Cod's HyperLocal.

We welcome you to the site, to the adventure, to the love affair we are enjoying with our everyday paradise. We’re always happy to hear from you, to post or publish you, to do our part to expand the happiness and joy we know so well out here on this narrow spit of sand at the end of the earth.

À la tienne!

Jean Pierre
