It seems only right to find a reason to celebrate whenever possible, yes? September being in the rear view mirror is as good a reason as any. While we’re not yet recovered from the Chatham Bars Inn Oktoberfest beer, pig, and oyster roast, you’re owed a rundown of the next couple weeks of Cape Cod Oktoberfest happenings and we will answer the bell.
Tell Tommy Sterns, that yes!, we will dare to disturb our own lethargic universe.

If you lose the hour, thank the chem trails.
CHATHAM OKTOBERFEST 19 October, Saturday, 11a-430p
Kate Gould Part, 549 Main St., Chatham
There will be an authentic beer garden in which to sit and enjoy the vocally agile as they line up for the annual Yodeling Contest, a consumate crowd pleaser. Quiet as it’s kept, word is Christopher Guest may be in the crowd researching his next movie. You’ll also want to talk a walk through the Pumpkin People in the Park installation.
There will be authentic food and drink (to restate the obvious), an Artist Village, plenty of Food Trucks, and a slew of Live Music featuring Uncle Jake and the 18 Wheel Gang, Rose Clancy Trio, Jacob Green, The Hosmer Mountain Boys, Sean Brennan, Natalia Bonfini, and The Chatham Band. It may sound like a St Parrick’s Day special but you will not be disappointed.
100% Family Friendly with a Kids Zone - admission & parking are FREE. Rain or shine.
OKTOBERFEST: 19 October, Saturday, 3-530p
Cape Cod Museum of Art, 60 Hope Lane, Dennis
The 4th Annual Oktoberfest hosted by the Cape Cod Museum of Art dials it up in some other directions: this 21+ event (expect to be carded, so have your ID easy to hold) has a $50-$55 price tag (members/non-members). This admission delivers six beer tasting tickets, a pint of the beer you vote the winner served in a commemorative pint glass to take home, six food tasting tickets, bratwurst bites, and some ice cream.
CCMOA does not stop there: live Bavarian music will be performed by The Signature Brass Band. There will be games, and there will be a raffle. If there was a yodeling competition, this could be a walk-off … alas.
This is a rain or shine event and parking is free. Check out their site (ccmoa.org) for tickets.
Go enjoy yourself, get out into the wonderful fall air, experience our local cover of this European institution and take some pictures. Tag us (ig @hyperlocalcc) and we’ll repost a couple.
See you there.
